# HVAC Quote Comparison Checklist | Delightful Duck

## HVAC Quote Comparison Checklist
Compare proposals by the complete work, the problem being solved and the terms you will own afterward. Put the estimates side by side and mark each item as included, excluded or still unclear. Ask for missing details in writing before choosing.

## Start With the Same Project Goal
Write down the rooms, reliability issue or upgrade goal you want addressed. Two prices are difficult to compare when one proposal replaces equipment and another also changes ducts, electrical work or controls.

## Equipment Details
Record the exact indoor and outdoor model numbers, capacity and stated efficiency. Confirm the equipment combination and the reason for the proposed size.

## Work Included
List duct and return-air changes, electrical work, drainage, controls, equipment placement, disposal and applicable permits. Identify who performs each part.

## Full Price and Exclusions
Compare the complete installed total, taxes or fees where applicable, exclusions and possible change-order items. Financing payments alone do not show the project price.

## What Your HVAC Quote Comparison Checklist Proposal Should Explain
Compare the proposed equipment and work with the problem you want to solve. Ask what is included, what is excluded and how the result will be checked.

## Design Basis
Ask how building or room loads and existing airflow support the equipment choice. Note what was measured and what was assumed.

## Startup and Handover
Confirm relevant operating checks, control setup, homeowner instruction and the documentation provided after installation.

## Warranties and Registration
Separate manufacturer coverage from labor coverage. Ask about exclusions, registration responsibilities and required routine care.

## Schedule and Property Requirements
Confirm access, parking, association approvals where applicable, expected work arrangements and responsibility for any unfinished scope.

## Account for Your Property
Coastal exposure, difficult equipment access, additions and multiple floors can change the work. Include those requirements in every proposal you are comparing.

## Keep the Scope and Terms Together
Read the written agreement and clarify open items before authorizing work. A comparison checklist helps organize questions; it does not establish that two systems or warranties are equivalent.

## From Your Question to a Clear Scope
Use one copy of this checklist for each proposal. Mark unclear items and request clarification. Compare the full installed scope and ownership requirements after the project assumptions match.

## HVAC Quote Comparison Checklist Questions

## Is the lowest equipment price the lowest project cost?
Not necessarily. Required modifications, startup, warranty terms and exclusions can change the comparison. Ask for the complete installed total.

## Should every proposal have the same capacity?
Differences need an explanation. Ask what load information, airflow and equipment design support each recommendation.

## What should I ask about financing?
Compare current APR, term, fees and total repayment. Understand promotional conditions and approval requirements before relying on a monthly payment.

## Where can I find other planning resources?
Return to the Customer Resource Hub for repair-or-replace questions, installation cost factors, duct and airflow guidance and maintenance information.
