## Practical HVAC Help for Your Home

Use this customer resource hub to understand a comfort problem, compare proposed work and prepare for your visit. Start with the question that matches your situation. Delightful Duck serves homes and businesses with practical explanations, written options and care that reflects the property.

## Understand What Your System Is Telling You

A symptom is a starting point, not a diagnosis. Note when the problem happens, which rooms are affected and whether the equipment runs continuously, stops early or does not start.

### AC Running but Not Cooling?

Check the thermostat mode and setting, look at the accessible filter and confirm that supply and return grilles are unobstructed. If you see ice, leaking water, smell burning or the breaker trips again, turn the system off and request service. Do not open electrical panels or add refrigerant yourself.

### One Room Too Hot or Cold?

Record the time of day, sun exposure and whether closing the bedroom door changes comfort. A room issue may involve airflow, ducts, insulation or the building load. Replacing the outdoor unit alone may leave the problem unresolved.

### Noise, Water or Repeat Shutdowns?

Tell us what you hear or see and when it happens. Photos of visible water or ice can help explain the concern. Stop using equipment when it appears unsafe; avoid repeated breaker resets and work inside the unit.

## Compare Your Options Before You Commit

A useful estimate explains what the work changes, what it includes and how performance will be checked. Use these questions when comparing proposals.

### Repair or Replace

Ask for the confirmed fault, repair price, parts availability and warranty. Compare those with overall condition, past repairs, comfort and replacement scope. Age alone is not a diagnosis, and a simple age-times-price rule should not make the decision for you.

### Quote Comparison Checklist

Compare equipment model numbers, capacity and efficiency; ductwork and electrical scope; permits and disposal; controls and startup testing; labor and manufacturer warranties; exclusions; and the complete installed price. Ask why any lower-priced proposal leaves items out.

### Installation Cost Guide

Equipment is only part of the installed cost. System type, sizing, ducts, electrical capacity, access, placement, drainage and required permits affect the quote. Request an itemized property-specific estimate rather than relying on a national average as a promised price.

### Ducts and Airflow

Before adding capacity, ask whether restricted returns, damaged ducts, leaks or room airflow are contributing to the problem. A higher efficiency unit still relies on a suitable air distribution system.

## Comfort Advice for Coast, Valley and Foothills

A neighborhood name is a starting point. Tell us how close equipment is to marine exposure, which rooms get afternoon sun, how the home is insulated and where the ducts run. For an HOA property, confirm equipment-placement requirements and approval steps before installation. For gated or hillside properties, share access and parking details when booking.

### When to Seek Immediate Help

For gas odor, a carbon monoxide alarm, smoke or sparking, leave the affected area as appropriate and contact emergency services or your utility. A website checklist is not a substitute for urgent help.

## Prepare for Your Service Visit

Have the thermostat settings, equipment model if accessible, symptoms, timing and recent service history ready. Clear a safe path to equipment and tell us about pets, parking, gates or building access. You do not need to climb into an attic or remove covers to prepare.

## Plan Your Next Step

### What does maintenance cost?

The Delightful Duck Club includes two visits per year. Residential: $195 annually for the first system plus $100 for each additional system. Commercial: $295 annually for the first system plus $120 for each additional system. Review covered equipment and written plan terms before enrolling.

### What should I ask about financing?

Compare APR, repayment term, fees and total repayment. Request current provider terms and confirm approval requirements. If a promotion is available, understand whether interest is waived or deferred before relying on it.

### How do I check rebates?

Check current programs with your utility and the California Energy Commission before choosing equipment. Eligibility may depend on location, income, equipment, contractor participation and application timing. Confirm requirements before purchase; incentives are not guaranteed.

### Where can I learn more?
